Hutchison Global Communications Limited (HGC), a fixed-line operator, IT service provider, carrier’s carrier and Wi-Fi service provider, has launched version 2.0 of its bizCloud cloud solution to continue helping organizations securely and dynamically manage computing operations in the cloud.

HGC bizCloud is a comprehensive, feature-rich cloud platform that allows users to assign IT resources flexibly and dynamically from a user-friendly self-management portal. The ability to review resource allocation, virtual machine (VM) performance and operations, logins and logouts, general capabilities and other reports is essential to managing computing, storage and networks while responding to evolving market conditions.

Users can establish virtual private clouds (VPCs) through the Internet or virtual private networks (VPNs) to implement various services and applications in a highly secure and reliable environment. In lieu of a shared public Internet service, users can use an IPSec VPN for more secure transmissions, Dedicated Internet Access (DIA) for guaranteed bandwidth or CloudConnect/MetroNET for a private route that simultaneously ensures greater security and data transmission performance.

At the center of bizCloud 2.0 is a robust firewall that is augmented by a range of additional configurable security measures, dependent on the specific needs of each customer. These notably include access control lists to control inbound and outbound traffic for individual subnets and an optional second-tier cloud firewall.

Because the system is hosted as tier-3 or higher data centers, the secure storage and transmission of data is guaranteed through ISO 27001 information security certification that reflects a company-wide objective of 99.95 percent service level assurance. Adoption of virtual machines and a network functions virtualization (NFV) strategy is an essential step in business transformation that makes organizations more responsive and much more isolated from the mounting variety of security threats.

“Security of HGC’s cloud solutions has gained wide recognition from corporate customers. As a leading fixed-line operator, we strive to provide enterprises with diverse and quality service portfolios,” said Jennifer Tan, COO of HGC’s parent company Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong Holdings Limited (HTHKH). “Tailored for enterprise customers, bizCloud 2.0 – which comes complete with telco-grade security – well demonstrates its unparalleled flexibility, efficiency and cost-effectiveness. We believe that it can further accelerate the rate of cloud adoption.”

HGC has enhanced the flexibility of cloud computing with an innovative, agile pricing model that only charges users for what they actually use in addition to the standard base monthly price model. For certain business conditions, customers can even adopt a hybrid pricing model that incorporates the advantages of both pricing plans and efficiently accommodates for unexpected market shifts.
